Experienced Representation Since 1975
When dealing with fathers' rights and paternity matters, having an experienced and knowledgeable lawyer on your side can be beneficial. At Branch and Hurtt Law Firm, P.C. in Norman, Oklahoma, attorney Judith A. Ridgeway has been representing the rights of fathers and other clients in a wide range of family law issues for more than 35 years.
Handling cases throughout Cleveland County, Oklahoma County, McClain County, Canadian County and Grady County. We are committed to helping clients understand their rights and options in family law cases involving children. It is important that both parents be involved in the children's lives as much as possible. With this in mind, we advocate for fathers' rights and the establishment of paternity to ensure that the children are supported as fully as possible.
Fathers' Rights
It is important that fathers understand what their rights are, whether they are going through a divorce or were never married to the mother of their children. We are dedicated to aggressively standing up for the rights of my clients who are fathers when dealing with issues such as child custody, creating a parenting plan, or determining child support obligations.
Seeking a Paternity Test
The establishment of paternity is essential in cases where the father's identity may be in question. A mother can request that paternity be established or a father can petition the court in order to compel the mother to produce the child for testing. In any event, a simple cheek swab from father and child can be obtained for DNA testing. Once the test has been completed, the correct father can be named in any child support and/or child custody action.
